JOY DIVISION : UNDER REVIEW

Title

JOY DIVISION : UNDER REVIEW

Subject

joy divison, music documentary,

Description

This 70-minute film starts with the band’s origins in early incarnation Warsaw, and moves through their short but hugely impacting time as Joy Division, even touching on the remaining members’ future following the tragic death of frontman Ian Curtis… The program further reveals the work the band undertook with legendary producer Martin Hannett. This DVD digs deep into the troubled soul of Curtis, whose personal life weighed him down, cruelly, just as the wider world was beginning to take notice. The legacy of Ian Curtis, and Joy Division as a whole, is still felt strongly and they remain hugely influential to each new crop of forward thinking guitar bands. The film features scarcely seen footage and performances, as well as insight from the cream of the Manchester music scene.
