Subject

Mass media, changing culture

Description

Affecting people has been a lot of things over the course of this century. Now, those media were thought to be a great, almost inescapable effect, then again, they considered that virtually nil. And because "new media" always emerged, the cycle "much power - little power - still a lot of power" seemed to repeat repeatedly. There is an extensive literature on this subject, but it is hardly possible to overlook and, moreover, often gave rise to major speech and mind confusion. The working of mass media provides an extremely clear overview of the literature on the influence and function of mass media and mass communication. The various insights are discussed and numerous researches are being conducted
Referenced results. The authors show that the history of effect thinking follows a retrospective pattern. Furthermore, they further emphasize that older philosophical future reflections on media use and culture seem to coincide with recent communicative scientific research results. J. G. Stappers is professor of communication science at the University of Nijmegen. A. D. Reijnders and W A. J. Móller studied this subject and, after graduation, worked for the Institute for Mass Communication for some years as a researcher / employee. Stappers previously published Mass Communication. An introduction, four of which appeared.
