With music by<br \/>Dutch punk legends The Ex and The Rondos, books from the punk scene and<br \/>plenty of movies! For instance: Richard Kern\u2019s Hardcore collection (with Lydia<br \/>Lunch, Henry Rollins, The Butthole Surfers to name a few), a well-<br \/>recommended documentary on the American hardcore scene, and the filth<br \/>and the fury of the Sex Pistols\u2026 All this blended together with some dust-<br \/>blazed \u2018western\u2019 classics \u2013 from Sergio Leone to Robert Rodriguez. Most<br \/>important of all, we have a great Alex Cox-trilogy to enjoy in our ever<br \/>comfortable pink DISPLAY\u2026<\/p>\n<p><br \/><strong>DON\u2019T MISS! PLAYING THIS WEEK:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><br \/><strong>Repo Man (Alex Cox, 1984)<\/strong>: The life of a repo man is pretty intense! The<br \/>famous SF punk action comedy, with a great soundtrack featuring Iggy<br \/>amongst others (\u201cI\u2019m looking for the joke with a microscope!\u201d) gave Alex Cox<br \/>instant cult status. Back in the nineties he tried to make follow-up Waldo\u2019s<br \/>Hawaiian Holiday, which ended up as a fun graphic novel, and back in 2009<br \/>he made the rarely screened Repo Chick on the low budget of $180.000.<br \/>Despite some laughs, nothing can top the original!<\/p>\n<p><br \/><strong>Sid and Nancy (Alex Cox, 1986)<\/strong>: Although Johnny Rotten didn\u2019t like it (&amp;quot;Did<br \/>the movie get anything right?&amp;quot; to which he replied: &amp;quot;Maybe the name Sid.&amp;quot;),<br \/>Sid and Nancy is still regarded as one of the finest rock-and- roll movies in the<br \/>world. A punk rock\u2019s Romeo and Juliet, as Roger Ebert mentions, following<br \/>the demise of Sid Vicious and Nancy Spungen\u2026<\/p>\n<p><br \/><strong>Revengers Tragedy (Alex Cox, 2002)<\/strong>: Despite the success of the first<br \/>movies, Alex Cox glided into obscurity, never reaching the box-office success<br \/>he might have deserved. He never stopped making movies though. Based on<br \/>the 1606 play of the same name, Revengers Tragedy relocates its Italian<br \/>setting to a futuristic version of Liverpool in the year 2011, following the<br \/>aftermath of a natural disaster which has destroyed the southern half of Great<br \/>Britain. The city is a dystopia in which society is collapsing and where<br \/>vendettas and the crude exercise of power are the norm.
